Grab a seat at our table

Our intimate dinners in New York City bring together curated groups of women and gender diverse entrepreneurs to make genuine connections, get support on business challenges and roadblocks, and expand their networks in a meaningful and impactful way. We keep each dinner purposefully small (less than 15 people) to ensure that guests are able to truly connect and get to know one another over the course of the evening.

who attends our dinners

Our dinners are designed to support entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, freelancers, and side hustlers. If you’re making your own money outside of a traditional corporate structure (or aspire to do so) and you want to become part of a supportive and impactful community, these dinners are for you. Attendees span years of experience and industries, from copywriters to developers, candle makers to winemakers, coaches to astrologists. The connective threads are a belief in abundance and shared success, and an affinity for producing high-quality products or best-in-class services.

Many of our guests come from an extensive referral network of top performers, general bad asses, feminists, and supporters. But if you’ve happened upon this page without a referral and what we’re saying resonates, hello weak tie, we’d love to meet you!

We’re proud to have a very high return rate at our dinners, but we also know that begs the question, “Will I only see the same people over and over?” Short answer - No. We plan our dinners strategically so that all guests will meet new people at any dinner they attend.

how it works

before dinner

We see only the hands of a person wearing rings and with painted nails typing on a laptop computer. The image represents the form that dinner attendees fill out in advance of Weak Ties/Strong Bonds dinners to ensure thoughtfully curated conversation.

When we created the inaugural WT/SB dinners, two things were specifically important to us that guides us to this day: we wanted the dinners to add value for the attendees, and we wanted to avoid that awkward “I don’t know anyone here” moment that was characteristic of the first 15 minutes (and sometimes - yikes - more) of other networking events we’ve attended.

To that end, a few days before every WT/SB dinner, you’ll receive a brief questionnaire to fill out about your current business needs and struggles and your ideal clients and connections. We use the information attendees provide to seat you optimally and curate the conversation based on the support you need in your business.

During Dinner

At the dinner, you’ll have the opportunity to develop new connections (weak ties!) with incredible women across a variety of industries over delicious food and drink. You’ll get:

An icon of a hand is surrounded by parenthesis to indicate waving. Here the icon is used as a symbol of introductions.

The chance to introduce yourself, your company, and your offering, and share where you need support.

An icon of two overlapping speech bubbles, one of which is filled with ellipses. This icon is used to represent discussion.

Facilitated discussion about doing business as women entrepreneurs and current topics of interest based on the questionnaire you filled out ahead of the dinner.

An icon of a lightbulb with a brain where the filament would otherwise be. Lines radiate from the top of the lightbulb to indicate that it is on and generating ideas.

Conversation that is structured enough to prevent awkward silences and ensure that you speak with everyone, but unstructured enough to let folks talk about what’s on their minds.

An icon of two hands clasped to indicate a handshake. The icon is used to represent the connections available to Weak Ties/Strong Bonds Dinners.

Curated connections all evening. We plan the seating thoughtfully throughout the dinner to ensure you are connecting with the people most relevant to your needs. Halfway through, we swap seats to keep the relevant connections going strong all evening!

Your ticket price includes your meal, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), gratuity and programming. You can leave your wallet at home!

AFTER dinner

Two women from diverse ethnic backgrounds sit side-by-side on pink chairs. One woman writes in a notebook which the other gestures with her hand. Both are smiling and a laptop sits on a small table between them.

Following the dinner, you’ll receive contact info for all the attendees so that you can connect one-to-one and turn those weak ties into strong bonds. No need to worry about exchanging business cards - are those still a thing? - you can just focus on great connections and great conversation. Many attendees have told us that they end up connecting with every attendee at their dinner!

We’ll also ask for your anonymous feedback. Our goal is to constantly grow with our community and respond to the needs of our members to create the most impactful events and programs.

  • "I liked how engaged everyone was! I was enjoying the conversations so much I completely lost track of time. I've been to community dinners in the past that weren't well curated or facilitated, and they ended up feeling cliquey and dissatisfying, so I was impressed that this was not like that at all."
